There are apartment people and there are house people.  Apartment people have minimal space to take care of, they have nice balconies and patios but taking care of their place means taking care of normal inside clean up.  Then there are the house people.  House people have a whole new world of issues to deal with… including a lawn.

There are many degrees to taking care of your lawn – some just do the basic necessities, make sure it’s watered, make sure the leaves and branches are picked up, and mow it from time to time.  And then… there are the lawn extremists.  You know who we’re talking about.  Maybe it’s even you.  Do you have various lawn treatments?  Do you measure how tall your grass is with a ruler?  Do own 3 different kinds of mowers?  Do you weed daily?  Is your lawn one of those with crazy stripes of mowed-lawn perfection?  Is the thought of a drought and water restrictions impacting your lawn keeping you up at night?  Yes, then you fit in the extremist category!

Movie remakes are everywhere, some say it’s because there isn’t an original thought in Hollywood anymore.  We don’t know if that’s true but it sure seems like every movie coming out lately is a copy or remake of something we’ve already seen.

Lately, it seems that cartoons and films from our childhood are the latest remake victims.  We’ve already seen Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we’re hearing they want to remake The Never Ending Story and Flight of the Navigator (bonus points if you remember the last one) and now there are rumors that an animated Smurfs movie is in the works!  We LOVED our Smurfs on Saturday mornings as a kid… but would you take your kids to see Smurfette, Brainy Smurf and Papa Smurf on the big screen?

DEAD MARK BOOKMARK - WHAT ABOUT REAL BOOKS?

One of our Perpetual Kid® staffers recently bought herself a brand new Kindle and ever since all we ever hear about is how awesome it is.  She didn’t get the supersized one, just the regular old Kindle 2 and I swear she takes it everywhere.  What’s even worse is that she has an iPhone and also discovered the Kindle iPhone app… now it’s Kindle this… Kindle that… ENOUGH WITH THE KINDLE!

We fully admit, Kindles are fab!  We love them and think the convenience is fantastic but sometimes we really like a good old fashioned book.  There is something so satisfying about flipping pages and using a bookmark to see just how far along we are.  Plus, in the summer there is nothing better than laying on a raft in the pool with a cocktail in the arm rest and a book in our hands.  It’s bad enough when you accidentally get a book wet, or even worse drop it in the pool, but what happens if you drop your Kindle – bye-bye Kindle.  Hope you have the money for a new one!
